National Phases of PCT Applications

PCT is an international treaty which offers a unitary, simplified filing procedure, followed by an international search and, at the applicant’s option, an international preliminary examination, for 152 countries. The PCT is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. The Turkish Patent Institute acts as the Receiving Office for the Turkish citizens and residents and also as the International Searching Authority and Preliminary Examining Authority. The EPO may also act under the PCT as a receiving Office, an International Searching Authority and a Preliminary Examining Authority. European patents may be granted on the basis of international applications filed under the PCT. A list of member states to the PCT can be obtained from: http://www.wipo.int/pct/en/pct_contracting_states.html.
